I regularly and wholeheartedly encourage people to use the tools available to shape your timeline to fit what you want.
If we all changed how we spoke because of displeasure from other people, we would never post anything. Or worse, just inane, generic drivel.

PSA: if a user habitually boosts stuff you don't want to see, you can turn off boosts just for them without unfollowing them
view their profile in the regular masto UI and you'll see a "Hide boosts from X" in the hamburger menu
this can make the whole experience a lot less annoying, but it's not well-known!
I enjoy deconstructing how people convince themselves of bizarre, illogical worldviews.
My 11 year old understands watching a single YouTube video doesn't make him an expert on a topic.
Meanwhile, some of you adults watch a single segment from John Oliver and you think you understand a topic better than a ten year industry veteran.
@rizzn So I was in a group a few weeks ago and someone asked about Bitcoin. One person replied to them that whatever they needed to know they could ask you and I thought, "I know him! He's a celebrity!" 🤗
