#openpgp traditions and #signal both bind a cleartext identifier, phone number or email address, to a cryptographic key. It opens up attack vectors as the servers/orgs controlling this binding can interfere.

#deltachat avoids such cleartext identity bindings by creating random #chatmail addresses, as transport only. The cryptographic key becomes the identifier and we want it hidden from the transport layer. Only people being in end-to-end encrypted chat need to identify each other, after all.

En la Escuela Municipal de Música y Danza Las Gabias utilizan Linux Mint como sistema operativo para el ordenador de la administración. También hacen uso de una instancia privada de Nextcloud con Collabora Office para gestionar la información de todos los alumnos y la escuela. No usan los servicios de #Google y #Microsoft para su correo electrónico, usan el del proveedor de alojamiento, #Acens. Para elaborar documentos, usan #LibreOffice.

Hasta la fecha, sí han podido sobrevivir con soluciones más comprometidas con la privacidad del usuario.

Y ahora, para el próximo curso, voy a impulsar desde la Escuela el uso de #Signal como plataforma de mensajería para todas las comunicaciones profesores-alumnos-familias.

Desafortunadamente no creo que vayan a tener por ahora presencia en el fediverso... aunque como dije, todo es, por ahora...

@b0rk i desperately live for a future where terminal app devs start living by ux and accessibility standards (showing exit shortcuts on screen, etc) so we can leave our current “everything is wrapped in a web browser” hellscape.

why is every #signal update 400 MB? that could EASILY be a very cute terminal app but instead, there it is, taking up three-quarters of a gig of ram in my task manager. :blobcatnomfloppy:

Did you know that in :signal: #Signal (@signalapp) you can people give nicknames? (support.signal.org/hc/en-us/ar) Did you also know that you can schedule messages (an Android at least)? (support.signal.org/hc/en-us/ar).

So to make it more satisfying to take a day off tomorrow (or any other day):

1️⃣ Change the nickname from you boss to 'Asshole'.

2️⃣ Compose a message saying: 'Hi @Asshole, I'm sorry but I'm really not able to work today. I think I have a serious cold, hopefully not the flu. 🤞🏻 Thank you for your understanding @Asshole.'* Long-press (tap and hold) on the send icon and select when to attempt delivery.

So don't bother about waking up to early. Just take a long nap. Let that hang-over rock your day! 🍻

* Remember to really mention the Asshole (pressing the @ first), or else they/she/he can see it anyhow (with some severe problems the next morning). The other person (your boss in this case) will see their/her/his own configured name.
