This is way too cool — we’re doing an in-store performance at Music Millennium in #Portland on Tuesday! 🤯 Go back in time and tell this to the version of me who spent years and years driving herself in laps around the country in her VW Jetta, playing every show she could get in coffee shops and small venues, chasing down this vision of hers in which she knew with her whole heart this is what she’s meant to do in this lifetime … and she’d be blown away.

all my acquaintances were in these fields; graphic design, art directors, photography, copywriters, UX, UI, industrial design etc

my choice to go into fashion design was considered quaint

to be fair, fashion design IS quaint

patternmaking was not my initial aspiration… it was purely an accident, a happy one?

even those that went into less creative fields aren’t in much better circumstances given the current state of the world…

idk what the answer is… learn to make or grow stuff?

said it before & will say it again, everyone should learn to sew despite someone once saying my career choice would make me a sweat shop worker.. to which i retorted, the most over paid sweat shop worker! (this was not said directly to my face mind you because i’ve always been scary af😇😂🖤)

good listen the intro by the author btw.. it’s true, we never expected much those of us who took the creative route especially

it's the end of work as we knew it and I feel... powerless to fight the technology that we pioneered nostalgic for a world that moved on without us

Note to GenXers with elderly parents. Do you manage their finances and Social Security account? If so, stay up to date with any forms you might need when they pass away. My dad passed in Feb and they locked his online SSA account within days. Now I have to file his taxes but have no SSA statement and can’t access it. Been on hold for two hours now.

EDIT: Took 3.5 hours for a 5 minute phone call. And I have to do it again next year. #socialsecurity #ssa #parents #caregiver #genx
