The opinions in this article are my own. This is a series of articles of my musings on why IPv6 failed. Previous article. Most networking protocols over the history of computer networking has failed. What makes up a successful protocol is defined in RFC5218. Personally I have worked on IPv6 standardisation and implementations since 1998. 27 years wasted then. At least I can claim to have learnt something along the way. Wonder what the inventors of ATM, X.25, IPX, DecNet, OSI, Apollo, … feel. :-) IPv6 is at least in good company. For some definition of “failed”, and reserve the right to take an antagonist position, and I do accept that there are valid use cases for IPv6.

Sometimes I think, maybe I should use TrueNAS, and then I remembered that their C•Suite decided to give the 🖕🏻 to FreeBSD... the very same operating system and community of developers and engineers who enabled their company to exist from the start, to scale to the level which brought them success and growth and accolades from the OSS and enterprise storage communities alike.

So no, I don't use TrueNAS. Whatever many reasons they and their indolent fanboys push for moving to Linux, and I have heard them all, it's irrelevant. They didn't just bite the hand that feeds, they went straight over to the clown-show makeup meme table and slathered it on; trying so hard to convince everyone including themselves that this betrayal was the Good and Ethical thing to do.

Luckily there are alternatives, and those will get my time, engineering efforts, and fiscal support. One thing to remember: alienated users do not recommend those formerly loved products to their employers, they do not "spread the love" via organic marketing, and perhaps sometimes they dissuade when they would formerly embrace.

The biggest problem of #Trump is that he cannot admit #mistakes. His fight against critics makes him blind for how much #Putin plays him like a #puppet. His way of handling #Selenskyj is just another example of this. The framing of #support for #Ukraine as #left by #Putins #propaganda makes him want to end it without thinking of consequences. And he just doesn't listen. If he really wants to make America great again, he better is no #pussy and steps up against #Putin. #maga
