So apparently, #Ubuntu 24.04 no longer supports installing to an encrypted disk. It's just not an option in the installer. You have to install an earlier version and upgrade, or do some convoluted remount dance to sneak it in.
This is Ubuntu LTS. How can they claim it's business-ready and secure when they *remove* basic security configuration?

There is an awful trend of "prank" streamers going to other countries, breaking laws, and then getting thrown in #prison as they are narcissistic lunatics with a death wish.
People like a streamer named #johnnysomali who is facing 15 years in #southkorea and Vitali, a washed up YouTube prankster facing 8 years in the #phillipines.
Many others too.
I find it #funny how they act so tough, then turn into begging children when facing real crimes.
I disabled #AI assist on #DuckDuckGo, but even when I do, I still get a bunch of search results that point me to 100% AI-generated web pages. Nowadays anyone can just fuzz search engines like #Google for lists of commonly searched queries, then generate slop responses to these queries, then cache the slop, and then use shady SEO techniques to get these slop pages to show up at the top of search results. And this is what I have been getting from a lot of my web searches lately, content from slop shops.
A part of me thinks companies like Google, Microsoft, and Amazon may themselves be investing in these shady slop shops to deliberately make traditional search engines useless, which would “incentivize” people to use #LLM -based AI like Gemini or #ChatGPT more often, though that is purely speculation on my part.
If you had asked my 20 years ago that the #Internet of the future would rapidly devolve and become increasingly useless as time went on, I would have dismissed you as a paranoid crackpot. Here we are in the future and I still can hardly believe how shitty technology is becoming.

They did an update, that got rid of the political leaning trending tags pages, and replaced it with something a lot dumber with no political topics in sight.
It's pretty much brain rotting, TikTok like stuff now called "circles" that includes absolutely nothing political.
Guess they're scared of backlash, and are trying to shift their focus.
Sucks for them. They shot themselves in the foot, that is what made them different.
So the short term rentals market (Airbnb and similar) is going to collapse soon.
It was already doing badly, and I am sure the lack of #tourism isn't gonna help.
2 million properties are predicted to hit the #housing market, which will sink housing A TON, and that is not accounting for the lack of tourism. So likely more.
Though unless it out paces our GDP crash, and rising inflation-

I feel like an old person screaming at the clouds, but the banks are getting really weird lately.
If you follow me I’m sure you’ve seen me rant about #Discover card changing what they will allow people to dispute.
#USAA lowered my credit card limit & didn’t tell me. I wouldn’t be sure of it if I didn’t have an old statement to look at because it’s the same old limit from a few years ago, but they did.
I’m also pretty sure that they used to show the running total under the transaction description and amount, and it’s gone now. This is confusing because I just made a payment, that shows pending, and I can’t tell if the new amount is after the payment or not until after it posts, but I’m pretty sure that was the balance before I made the payment.
And #Wallgreens is a pharmacy not a bank, but I still think it’s shady AF that they took the retail price off the pharmacy print out so I have no idea what my medications cost without insurance until I get my EOB. I like knowing what these medication’s cost. Having this information made me decide that getting 10 mg of sumatriptan is absolutely stupid because six of those cost Medicare $800 when it’s less than $80 for six 5 mg & I can just get two of those instead (even though I pay two copays that way they’re only $4.15 so it’s worth it to not drain #medicare unnecessarily.)

I have a frustrating issue with #scoopz due to their auto-check system for offensive, and hateful content.
I have to be careful about my word choice, as if I say something it doesn't like, it will never show my video.
It's frustrating as some words relate directly to the topics that trend.
Like for instance - it doesn't seem to like "vaccines," or "Anti-Vax" and there is a trending tag about measles, and the official for vaccines stepping down due to Anti-Vax #rfkjr
