Over the past 30 some-odd years, #Nintendo's consoles seem to have had a bust-boom cycle with their success. The #N64 did well, the #Gamecube wasn't so successful, the #Wii sold like gang busters, the Wii U sold poorly, and the Switch sold very well. USA-based gamers who were prepared to suck up the already steep price tag and pre-order Nintendo's Switch 2 will have to wait. The Japanese brand has paused U.S. pre-orders in response to President Trump's tariffs. Here's more from @Kotaku.

Some napkin math: analysts at launch claimed Switch 1 cost $257 to make and sold for $299. If that ratio holds, Switch 2 would cost around $387 to make. Vietnam's tariff rate is 46%.

This will add ~$176 of tariff tax, or around $620 total.

In 1998, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was released for $59.99. Today, adjusted for inflation, that same game would cost $117.

I'm really not on board with the narrative that games are more expensive now than they used to be.

Games now are roughly the same price (Even at the Switch 2's $70) even without considering how much more complex they are, and the size of the team that makes them.

What is going on with this game? Why does it look so drab and depressing? This looks like it needs a proper ARMS treatment. *sigh* Man, ARMS was so sick #Switch2
